Touching the Void..

On the 22nd of February 2017, I spent 8 days on the Tasman glacier where amongst other things I:

– Jumped into a crevace
– Crevace rescue
– Sent myself hurling down a 45 degree angle icy slope to try and stop myself before entering the crevace
– ice climbing
– Summiting grade 3 mountain routes
– pitching routes
– dry tooling
– using pitons

After spending so much time on a glacier I got to see the weather forecasting come to reality around me by the movement of the clouds across the glacial valleys. The movement of the glacier was also obvious as the crevasses opened up and transformed throughout the short stay to reveal deep down to the bottom of the pits. For the first time in a long time I felt like I made progression with my skills and knowledge. Great trip 🙂
